One Light at a Time
My gamers make me happy.
They take the half-kneaded
dough that I inevitably bring to the table and form it into a neatly
braided loaf of challah with only a minimum of mocking. It's hard, from the tradition of a story teller, to let go of control and trust the players, but I try because I know they have the best interests of the story at heart. And they trust me in return.

Recent Culinary Adventures: challah, pie, lefse
I celebrated Boxing Day by making four shiny challahs for my parents. I used beautiful eggs from Larry Schultz Farm in Owatonna, Minnesota. The
dough barely rose at first and I was disheartened, but rolled it into ropes and
braided it anyway. The rolling was tough because the
dough wanted to maintain its spherical shape! My arms became tired, but I persevered.
Then I followed my mom's advice and let the
braided dough rise in a lightly heated oven for several hours, and amazingly
